How does the author show his love for his house?

In the poem, House, Albert Wendt uses many language features to show his love for his house.

In (line), Albert Wendt says “the house blooms in my mind”. This use of metaphor is used to show how the house blooms like a flower. The house is like a flower because the image of the house expands in his mind beautifully. This shows how much he loves his house. It shows how much he loves it and how wonderful he thinks it is.

In (line), Albert Wendt says “the house knows me”. This use of personification is used to show how familiar he is with his house. He feels like he knows his house so well that, in a way, the house knows him back.  The use of personification shows how he loves his house almost in the same way he loves people in his life. He has grown attached to the house over the five years of knowing it.

Overall, Albert Wendt uses many language features to show how much he loves his house.
